What was GearGoat?

GearGoat is no longer an active product.

GearGoat was launched in October 2026 and live to the public for 6 months until April 2026. It was continually itereated upon throughout that time whilst being used by both 'friendly users' and the general public.

GearGoat was an AI-powered platform which helped athletes find the right sports equipment for their sport and exercise goals.

Buying sports gear can be overwhelming. Dozens of brands, endless models, detailed technical specs - and no clear way to know what’s actually right for you.

That's where GearGoat came in.

Step 1: We built your athlete profile using the information you provided about your sport, body characteristics, training or playing style, and goals.
‍
Step 2: We reviewed your profile against our extensive equipment database using a custom-built recommendation algorithm, combining official manufacturer data with real-world athlete feedback.

The result was a data-driven, personalised equipment recommendation.

GearGoat was focused on running shoes at launch - but the long term goal was to become the number one platform for equipment recommendations across a whole range of sports and activities.

Ultimately I chose to pivot into other projects rather than grow GearGoat beyond an MVP - but building GearGoat was a hugely worthwhile and educational process.
